  • De-Mastering!?

    Experienced audio engineer reflects on the risks of over-compression in mastering. Disappointed with ‘brickwalled’ recordings, he takes matters into his own hands. By lowering clip gain and employing a high-pass filter, he successfully recovers transient detail and gains dynamic range. The resulting album sounds great, proving that brickwalling can be fixed to a certain extent.
